In part 2 of my series on power exchange, let’s talk about one of the things I love MOST, as a sub, about the arena of BDSM!

The MUCH talked about, sometimes-elusive phenomenon called: SUBSPACE.

Aptly named, this psychological state is the ULTIMATE eurphoria for a submissive! Likely, some of you more submissive types have already BEEN in subspace, and just had no idea that what you were feeling actually has a name!

For those who have never visited, subspace is the most dreamy destination that you could EVER hope to arrive at! Subspace is an INTENSE and sacred psychological state or “headspace” where a submissive connects to his or her Dom in a VERY intimate and trusting way. The submissive’s body, mind, and soul are given over COMPLETELY to the Dom- TOTAL trust of one’s Dom is a MUST before going into subspace! It’s a trance-like state and somewhat compares to an out-of-body experience as a session becomes more heated and physically intense!

You no longer feel pain… pain and pleasure mingle as one to form this incredible detachment from reality… from the world, from your worries, from EVERYTHING: except your Dom. Often when you reach “deep” subspace, you can no longer use words to communicate- you have transcended words and understand ONLY feelings; and long to please the one you hold closest to your submissive little heart!

As you vacation to the distant land of subspace, it’s important to have an experienced Dom that knows the signs of subspace, and protects His submissive accordingly. While in subspace, and feeling no pain, all we want to do is please… our need for it is SO great that at times if not for a watchful Dom’s eye, a submissive becomes unaware of physical pain or injury. It is up to our loving Master to be sure His most precious belonging is safe and protected!

While the high during subspace is like NO other, aftercare is worth coming back to reality for. 🙂  After hurting for your dark, intense lover, aftercare is your oh- so-sweet reward! All the closeness and tenderness you desire from Him outside of your play together, is there, in that moment, to be treasured. Skin, freshly stinging with hot welts, is soothed with ice. Your exhausted, sweaty face wiped fresh and clean… strong hands moving over your marked body with gentle fingers, tracing His handiwork on the lovely creature that exists only to please Him. Even as you wince, you are exhausted, satisfied, and proud that you are His, and you pleased Him in all the ways He loves best.

That, is subspace.
